Did you paint it yourself?
![]() Yes and no. I did all the prep work (sandblasting and final sanding) and I had a local auto paint shop shoot on the paint. I only have $200 into the paint, including the tank, radiator plastic and custom fades. If you are thinking about doing this, there are two tricks to make the paint on you plastic durable. First, you need to thoroughly sand the plastic with a medium to fine sand paper until there is absolutely no gloss left on the plastic before the base primer is applied. Next, be sure that all paint applied to the plastic has a healthy proportion of flex additive in it. Automotive paint shops use it all the time on plastic/rubber car bumpers, and they should be familiar with the process. If you do this, and be relatively "nice" to your plastic, the paint should last a long time. A note from Mary S. of Power Sports Performance: She says to thoroughly scrub the plastic with Comet and use adhesion promotor to make the paint stick to plastic. |
