Alice's Other Minis - Gifts

These gifts I made for Louise and Tom, listowners of the Dollhouse Guild e-mail group. These were the first miniatures I ever made for someone other than for myself. A bunch of us sent things to Darlene, who packaged everything up together for one big surprise package.

Tom likes circus-related things, so I made him a box of popcorn.

Louise was working on a general store roombox, so I made some bolts of fabric for her. Since Louise is also a "Doctor Who" fan, I made labels on the ends of the bolts that reflected the names of the female characters on the Doctor Who program. (Doctor Who is where I got my on-line Nyssa.) The labels said: "Linens by Liz", "Jo's Jacquards", "Silks by Sarah Jane", "Lycra of Leela", "Romana's Rayons", "Nyssa's Novelties", "Tegan's Treasures", "Peri's Plaids", "Mel's Mill Ends", and "Ace Acetate".

At my first mini club meeting, I learned how to make gladiolus. I had fun making them, but had a hard time finding floral tape in the right color. Jonesy came to my rescue and sent me some. I made these gladiolus for Jonesy, to say "Thank you!" Jonesy also shared with me a method for making leaves, so I used her method to make the leaves for the gladiolus. I sent these flowers to Jonesy unplanted, so that she could chose to use them however she wanted.

Look here for a Larger-than life Close-up of some blossoms.
