Laundry Room Roombox

My club decided to create laundry rooms in detergent boxes. The idea was
presented by Marilee, who did a laundry room project at a workshop in
Missoula. Marilee shared instructions, and taught us how to make
stacking washer/dryers at our September 2002 meeting. We met on a Saturday
to work on our laundry rooms and we each provided materials and instructions
for some sort of laundry room-related accessory. I taught ironing
boards, Ann helped us make clothes pin bags, Dawn taught washboards, and
Jeri provided kits for shelves with clothes pegs. I didn't use these
accessories in my laundry room project, since I decided to go with a theme,
and most of these items didn't fit.
That 70's Basement
I decided to have my laundry room reside in a basement. As I thought about
it, I realized that a traditional white washer/dryer would look pretty
bland surrounded by gray cinderblock walls. So, I decided to introduce
color by going with a 70's avocado green. The mini person who owns this
basement wanted to brighten up the dark corner of the basement, making it
a slightly more cheerful place to work, so I created the flower-power
wallpaper for the interior wall.

This room has an unfinished ceiling. There are exposed floor joists,
plumbing, wires, and a heating duct.

To the left, stands a washtub. The tub has a drain pipe. 20 Mule Team Borax
and a box of Ivory Snow are within reach. The Ivory Snow box is the 1972
Marilyn Chambers (porn star) version.
To the right is a utilitarian window. It is dirty, and faces a window well.
The mini resident never got around to putting up curtains.
Conduit runs down the wall to an outlet for the washer/dryer. Inside the
dryer is a striped towel and a lonely sock. (The sock is not visible
in the photos.)
