Alice's Porch

This was a project my club was supposed to do. One club member bought plywood and provided instructions, another club member cut the wood, and we all were supposed to work on our porches together. I think I am the only one who finished her porch.

At first, I could not decide if I wanted to make a pretty porch, or do an aged one, so I chose to do a combination of the two. The homeowners are busy with home repairs! New paint and a new roof are keeping the homeowners busy this summer.

The back side (inside of the house) is finished.

The old grey siding and white trim are showing their age. A set of shutters with cracked and peeling paint lean against the house. The new paint job uses a 5-color scheme.

A window pane has been removed, has been scraped, primed, taped, and is ready for a new coat of pink paint. Newspapers are spread on the floor of the porch, to catch paint drips. I made the saw horses and the paint brush.

A toolbox (made by John Nelson) holds painting tools. I made the paint stirrers, paint roller handle and paint roller roll, and the masking tape.

A ladder stands ready, and a collection of paint cans awaits by the door. Diane send me a kit for the ladder and paint cans. Typical of me, I didn't follow the instructions and changed the ladder a bit. I also put "Columbia" (a regional paint store) paint can labels on the cans.

Up on the roof, new shingles are being installed. I made the shingles, the hammer, and the framing square.
