Seattle Show, March 1999
I picked up a lot of goodies at the Seattle Show. I don't have pictures
of everything, but do have some. (Tony, a man I know at work, just bought
a new digital camera. I took my goodies to work to show the ladies, and
Tony was willing to test his camera with some of my miniatures. These
pictures were taken on Tony's desk.)

The vase was made by Gerde van Dijk. It is made of dendritic talc.
Gerde also works in other stones and wood. She had bowls as well as
vases.
These grapes are some of the best I have ever seen. This bowl of grapes
is from "My Favorite Things", in Hawaii. There were some awesome
fruit baskets at this table. There were coconuts, melons, and bananas
that looked very yummy.
It was hard to choose just one thing from these two tables.

The Persian kitty is one of BJ Eller's Pussy Willow Persians. I could
not resist purchasing this little darling. This Persian is acting
very Tigger-ish!
The other cats are some inexpensive cats that I picked up for the
cat-themed room box I want to do. If I collect too many cats for the
scene, I will put the spares in future dollhouses. I will always find
places for cats!
Yep, 1999 certainly was the "Year of the Cat"... *grin*

The cat doll is by Anita McNary-Haynes of Spokane. (The head is made of
porcelain.) Anita had recently started making her tiny porcelain kitties
again. This cat could be used in a 1/4th inch scale scene, but I am going
to use it as a doll in my cat room box.
Ed bought me the 'naughty' kitty. 20 minutes before the show closed, I
was looking at some glassware, and mentioned to Ed that I wanted a fish
bowl. Ed said he had seen fish bowls with fish, but he couldn't remember
which table had them. Ed raced around the room, and 10 minutes after the
show closed, Ed found a table with cats-n-fishbowls! The ladies at the
show didn't want to sell it to us, since they were closed, but Ed's
desperate cry, "But we drove 300 miles for this!" didn't go unheard. I had
the exact change in my pocket for the sales tax, so this cat was meant to
be mine. It is my favorite piece from the show.
Other things that I purchased, but don't have shown are:
- A blue and white teapot
- A kit for a pot of narcissis flowers, made by Sandra Henry Wall
- A picture frame by Geoffrey Bishop (he does beautiful work, I
wish I could afford more than just a picture frame.)
- Some metallic bunka, ribbon, and angel lace, for doll-dressing.
(I wish someone had been there, selling fabrics for dolls.
- 3 plates, printed with different cat faces.
- Some metal ice skates to paint.
- A delicate pillow, trimmed in bobbin lace! Pricey, sure, but it is
something I cannot do (yet).
- A nativity set. I want one for my full-size house. At least Mini Ed
and Mini Alice can set up this little one at Christmas time.
- A 144th scale dollhouse kit, and some unpainted furniture for it.
(Anita will walk me through assembly, if I get discouraged! Note: I
finished 2 144th scale house kits in 1999! Addictive little things.)
